Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is characterized by fulminant re
spiratory failure due to noncardiac pulmonary edema. This can be triggered
by a heterogeneous group of diseases. We report an unusual case of an infan
t who developed severe ARDS in association with a severe cyanotic attack du
e to tetralogy of Fallot. (C) 2001 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
