Recent advances in the description of dislocation dynamics are presented. S
ystems considered have realistic dislocation densities (i.e. densities clos
e to those measured during the plastic deformation of single crystals: rho
congruent to 10(12) m(-2)). The description is made through computer simula
tions in a bidimensional frame. Special emphasis will be made concerning th
e simplifications adopted, as well as the achievements.
