The purpose of this investigation is tu study the elastic behavior Of a dis
continuously reinforced composite material, Al(6061)-40vol%SiC, by using th
ree different procedures: Extensometry in uniaxial testing, pendulum elasti
cimeter, and propagation of acoustic signals in the material. The high cera
mic content uf this material provides it with a high stiffness without a si
gnificant increase in density. Because Of this, the material is suitable as
structural component in the automotive and aerospace industry.
