Abstract
Numerous studies of sex differences in morbidity and mortality after an epi sode of acute coronary disease shown unclear results. In particular is not clear if women undergoing coronary revascularization procedures have advers e in-hospital and long-term outcomes compared with men. Recent clinical tri al have provided new insights into this problem. The influence on gender di fferences for the decision to undertake coronary angiography and percutaneo us transluminal coronary angioplasty will be discussed. (C) 2001 Elsevier S cience Ltd.
