Genetically manipulated vectors of human disease: a practical overview

Achievements in genetic engineering of vector insects have raised hopes for their use as public health tools. To evaluate the potential value of genet ically manipulated (GM) vectors, the authors propose that a series of impor tant preliminary studies must be conducted. Practical next steps in develop ing these studies are also discussed.
