L. Mariey et al., Discrimination, classification, identification of microorganisms using FTIR spectroscopy and chemometrics, VIB SPECTR, 26(2), 2001, pp. 151-159
The aim of this work is to review the last 10 years articles about Fourier
transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) as a toot for characterization of mi
croorganisms. Various FTIR techniques like transmission, attenuated total r
eflection, microspectroscopy, have been used to characterize bacteria, yeas
t or other microorganisms. Chemometric methods as hierarchical cluster anal
ysis (HCA), principal component analysis (PCA) or artificial neural network
(ANN) are rapidly reminded. Publications are then listed, according to the
purposes of the studies: taxonomical classification, discrimination accord
ing to susceptibility to antibiotic, etc. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Al
