Characteristics, treatment and utilization of residues from municipal waste incineration

Beneficial utilization of residues from municipal solid waste incineration is an important objective for integrated waste management in many jurisdict ions. When residues are to be used as an aggregate substitute in constructi on applications, the release of constituents of concern to soils and water through leaching is an important environmental consideration. In this paper , residue characteristics that control constituent leaching and testing app roaches for evaluating leaching are discussed.
