The interdependence of the magnetic aftereffect with ferrite compositi
on and heat treatment schedule is analyzed. It is found that an aftere
ffect develops in cobalt-containing materials as a result of the spine
l component Co3O4 which forms in solid solutions. This component disru
pts the homogeneity of the solution under slow cooling conditions belo
w 1100 K. The influence of cobalt on hysteresis loop parameters increa
ses when a distant order develops in the ferrite: the structure itself
does not cause a magnetic aftereffect. In order to prepare materials
resistant to the magnetic aftereffect with high-temperature stability
of magnetic parameters it is necessary to use systems with a wide rang
e of composition homogeneity and to avoid slow cooling within the rang
e 1100-293 K.
