The midterm follow-up of 2 patients with left ventricle-to-aorta conduit wh
o underwent percutaneous closure with the Amplatzer device is described. Co
mplete occlusion was achieved immediately in I patient. In the other patien
t, a trivial residual shunt was still present after 12 months, but disappea
red after 18 months. Occlusion of dysfunctional left ventricle-to-aorta con
duits by the Amplatzer device is feasible, provided that enough time is all
owed for complete occlusion. (C) 2001 by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
