An investigation of the X-ray photoelectron spectra of single crystals of S
rLaAlO4 grown at various oxygen pressures is reported. Light yellow crystal
s were obtained at pressure of oxygen lower than about 5x10(-4) atm while g
reen colored crystals at oxygen pressure higher than 5x10(-3) atm. The obta
ined X-ray photoelectron spectra of Sr, La and Al ions show no significant
difference while clearly seen difference in the O 1s spectra for light yell
ow and green crystals was found. The O 1s spectra of green crystals can be
split into three superposed spectra assigned to absorbed oxygen, an oxygen
in the unit cell and an interstital oxygen. As for light yellow crystal onl
y two the O 1s peaks defined as adsorbed oxygen and an oxygen of the unit c
ell were found.
