Abstract
The profound effects of inbreeding and other nonrecombining breeding system s on genetic variability and molecular evolution are now beginning to be un derstood. Theoretical models predict how such populations are expected to d iffer from outcrossed populations, and DNA sequence data are being collecte d and used to test the predictions.
