Abstract
The mechanical behavior of unsaturated compacted soil affects the security of embankments. The aim of compaction methods in the laboratory is to repro duce the compaction effect induced by on-site equipment. This paper summari zes all the results obtained on kneading compaction in order to define a co mpaction procedure that simulates the action of compacting machines in the field.
