Abstract
A critical review is given of the system Al2O3-Al4C3, including a discussio n of solid compounds in the system. The liquid phase is considered as a mix ture of the three ions AlO+, AlO2- and AlC-. A revised phase diagram is del ineated, based also on experimental gas pressures at equilibrium in the pre sence of solid carbon.
