Abstract
The first total synthesis of the racemic title compound is described. 3-Hydroxy-4-methyl acetophenone was used as the starting material and transformed into the target molecule in six steps. Synthetic turmerono l A displays spectral properties similar to those reported for the nat ural compound leading to confirmation of the proposed structure.
