Abstract
The present work is intended to produce capacitor grade Tantalum powder by sodium reduction of potassium tantalum fluoride prepared from an indigenous ore source. The powder has been characterized for its chemical and physica l properties, and compared with the commercially available powders. It is f ound that indigenous powder has higher impurity levels which could, however , be reduced to acceptance limits. The average particle size is within the prescribed limits.
