Abstract
Attempted metalation of the dimer [CyNHAs(mu -NCy)](2) (1) with ZnMe2 gives the novel complex [{MeAs(NHCy)(NCy)}ZnMe](2) (2), a reaction formally invo lving transfer of a Zn-bonded Me group to the As(III) center, rather than t he anticipated deprotonation of the CyNH groups. 2 has an unusual ladder st ructure in the solid state, composed of a central (ZnMe)(2) dimer unit coor dinated by two [MeAs(NHCy)(NCy)](-) anions.
