A. Gerli et S. Berkhout, Improvement of quality of printing papers obtained through implementation of a new microparticle retention and drainage program, PAP PUU, 83(7), 2001, pp. 532-537
The qualities of wood-free and mechanical base papers produced with two mic
roparticle programs were compared. Improvement of the topographical charact
eristics of the base paper was observed when the microparticle was a colloi
dal borosilicate inorganic oxide. The results presented in this paper sugge
st that, in addition to machine parameters, the retention, drainage and for
mation-program can have a marked influence on the paper quality.
