Abstract
We present electron diffraction and high-resolution electron microscopy mea surements characterizing the structure of a Bi-based layered manganite. The crystal structure of Bi0.75Ca3.25Mn3O10 is orthorhombic and A centered (sp ace group A2(1)22), with lattice parameters a congruent tob = 0.55 nm and c =2.78 nm. High-resolution electron microscopy reveals a well-defined 4310-t ype layered structure, identified as a member of the Bi-based Ruddlesden-Po pper series with n = 3.
