R. Korus et al., Transverse momentum fluctuations due to temperature variation in high-energy nuclear collisions - art. no. 054908, PHYS REV C, 6405(5), 2001, pp. 4908
The event-by-event p(perpendicular to) fluctuations due to the temperature
variations are considered. The so-called Phi measure is computed and shown
to be a linear function of temperature variance. The fluctuations of temper
ature naturally explain the data on Phi (p(perpendicular to)) in proton-pro
ton and central Pb-Pb collisions, but independent measurements of temperatu
re fluctuations are needed to confirm the explanation. Feasibility of such
an event-by-event measurement is discussed.
