Abstract
The methods of water-level gauging used in some countries (float method wit h float shaft and station house) require costly investments and need perman ent maintenance. Radar-sensor techniques for water-level measurements might be a cost-saving alternative. The paper presents practicability studies of radar sensor applications in water gauging and identifies the limits of ap plicability. Moreover, first experiences with radar sensors for wave-height analysis are reported. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
