Abstract
It is shown that, under the balance between slow-loss saturation and s elf-phase modulation, the solid-state laser is capable of generating a chirped frequency-shifted quasi soliton. The gain saturation, negativ e group-velocity dispersion, or additional phase modulation stabilizes the quasi soliton. (C) 1997 Optical Society of America.
