The ternary salt systems M2MoO4-CdMoO4-Zr(MoO4)(2) (M = K, TI) are studied
below the solidus by X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis, and
infrared spectroscopy. Isothermal sections of the system at a level of 450-
500 degreesC are constructed. The ternary molybdates M5Cd0.5Zr1.5(MoO4)(6)
[M2MoO4:CdMoO4:Zr(MoO4)(2) = 5:1:3], trigonal, space group R3c, Z = 6, isos
tructural to potassium magnesium zirconium molybdate, are found to exist. T
he system with thallium molybdate contains also the compound TICd0.5Zr0.5(M
oO4)(2) (1:1:1), orthorhombic, space group Pnam, isostructural to KIn(MoO4)
(2). Crystal data, terminal properties, and electric properties of the comp
ounds are determined.
