Abstract
An efficient synthesis of the tetracyclic core of nakadomarin A was accompl ished starting from methyl 4-oxo-3-piperidinecarboxylate. The key steps wer e intramolecular cyclization of furan to N-acyliminium ions to construct th e strained central cyclopentene ring. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All ri ghts reserved.
