Three cats presented with painful, putrid smelling ulcers on their thi
ghs and around their tails. Examination of the fly larvae found in the
ulcers revealed that the cats suffered cutaneous blowfly myiasis caus
ed by Calliphora ertthrocephala larvae. Obesity was one of the predisp
osing factors for the development of this parasitic condition. After t
herapy with ivermectin, the larvae disappeared within two days.
