E. Pignatelli et G. Fasano, Morphological classification of high redshift galaxies - GASPHOT: A tool for galaxy automated surface PHOTometry, ASTRO SP SC, 277, 2001, pp. 561-564
We present GASPHOT, a tool for automated surface photometry and morphologic
al classification of galaxies in deep and wide fields. The requirements for
any such tool are reviewed, and its use for the classification of high-z g
alaxies is presented. In the case of HDF-like images, for galaxies having a
magnitude ranging from 24 to 27.5, the uncertainties on the photometric pa
rameters derived from GASPHOT are respectively Delta M = 0.02-0.1, Delta lo
g R-e approximate to 0.03, Delta n = 0.02-0.5.
