The Acoustic Emission within the process of instrumented impact test was re
searched with Polypropylene materials filled with nucleating agent(mass fra
ction, 0-2.0%) by the MISTRAS2001 AE SYSTEM. It was shown that at the 0.4%
(mass fraction) content of nucleating agent, the notched impact strength sh
owed a maximum value, at the same time, the AE counts also reached the high
est level. With the increase of nucleating agent, AE counts of crack initia
ting stage in the process of impact fracture tend toward the increase, but
the AE counts of crack growth stage reaches a maximum value. It has the sam
e transformation tendency with the characteristic parameter of fracture sur
face.
