I. Velaz et al., INTERACTIONS OF NAPROXEN WITH VINYLPYRROLIDONE AND BETA-CYCLODEXTRIN - A FLUOROMETRIC STUDY, International journal of pharmaceutics, 153(2), 1997, pp. 211-217
A spectrofluorimetric method to study the interactions of naproxen wit
h 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone and beta-cyclodextrin in aqueous solution has
been proposed. As complexation causes appreciable spectral changes, th
is method enables the determination of the stability constants. Comple
xation with beta-cyclodextrin results in an enhancement of the fluores
cence of naproxen whereas 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone involves a quenching o
f fluorescence. It has been supposed 1:1 complex formation. Specifical
ly, formation constants, enthalpy and entropy values have been obtaine
d for the aforementioned complexes at different temperatures and pH va
lues; their associated errors are given. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V
