Community based initiatives in the struggle against domestic violence

Though family is the main site of violence against women, the community pla ys a critical role in reinforcing iniquitous structures and processes in th e family. The paper comments on the scope of interventions of the community based groups and the ideological perspective within which the issue is bei ng addressed by them so as to understand how far they have come in addressi ng feminist goals of reducing violence by men and destabilising patriarchal power structures.
