Abstract
Bryum laevifilum Syed is shown to be the correct name for plants hitherto k nown in Britain as B. subelegans Kindb. and B. flaccidum Brid. B. subelegan s is a rare montane plant distinct from B. laevifilum and is reported here for the first time as a British species.
