Abstract
Densities of the binary systems I-propanol (P) + formamide (F), 1-propanol + N-methylformamide (NMF) and 1-propanol + N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) have been measured at 303.15 K. Densities and excess molar volumes of the syste ms P+F, P+NMF and P+DMF have been plotted as a function of mole fraction of I-propanol. The curves of excess molar volumes have been interpreted in te rms of such factors as hydrogen bonding between alcohol and amides, dispers ion force, steric hindrance and interstitial accommodation of one component into structural holes of another.
