Abstract
New polymers have been synthesized with biquinolyl units in the main chain, as well as complexes of these polymers with transition metals, and photoph ysical studies of materials based on them have been carried out. It has bee n established that the indicated materials are characterized by a quantum y ield of charge-carrier photogeneration close to unity, and a photosensitivi ty of about 3 x 10(4) cm(2)/J. The resulting characteristics can be substan tially enhanced by sensitization with fullerene. Homogeneous thermally stab le films based on polymer-metal complexes are of interest for creating reco rding media and liquid-crystal light modulators. (C) 2001 The Optical Socie ty of America.
