Abstract
The synthesis of the amide dimers 3-5 carrying a potential intercalati ng substituent on the nitrogen atom of the backbone is presented, toge ther with the incorporation of these modifications into oligonucleotid es, the resulting melting temperatures (T-m's) of the corresponding du plexes with RNA- and DNA- complements and a summary of molecular model ing studies.
