A new type of broadband isolator, using coupled microstrip lines on a trans
versely magnetized gyrotropic substrate, is proposed in this article. The n
onreciprocal coupling between two microstrip lines can be used to create an
isolation mechanism. Based on this phenomenon, an isolator is designed at
20 GHz, which has an 8 GHz bandwidth with more than 15 dB isolation and les
s than 2.1 dB insertion loss.
