Abstract
For a number of years Contraves Space AG and the European Space Agency have been leading the development of Optical Inter-Satellite Link (OISL) techno logy within Europe. This was recognized in 1998 through the selection of a Contraves terminal by Motorola for the Celestri system. Since then Contrave s Space has been involved in the design of higher capacity terminals target ed at broadband satellite telecommunication systems. Currently Contraves Sp ace AG is focussing their activities in developing a terminal for midrange (5000 km to 25 000) GEO to GEO applications.
