Abstract
[GRAPHICS] Resistance to chemotherapy has become a major problem in cancer therapy. Th e new sugar amino acid (SAA) containing somatostatin analogues presented po ssess antiproliferative and apoptotic activity against both multidrug-resis tant and drug-sensitive hepatoma carcinoma cells. Synthesis, design, and bi ological evaluation of the cyclic analogues and of the furanoid SAA used wi ll be discussed. Four analogues have IC50 values in the low muM range, maki ng them promising leads for chemotherapeutic drugs against multidrug-resist ant carcinoma.
