We present new mechanism of pairing of like-charged carriers in high-T-c cu
prates. Due to hyperbolic metrics of k-space, the relative motion of a pair
with large quasimomentum results in quasistationary states which explain b
oth a pseudogap in the quasiparticle spectrum and a condensate of pairs cor
responding to the superconducting state. We qualitatively explain the princ
ipal features of the phase diagram of high-T-c cuprates. (C) 2001 Elsevier
