Abstract
In the context of high T-c superconductors. discussed is the role of the Ko ndo effect in the formation of coherent bands near the Fermi surface. It is suggested that superconductivity occurs in a region where the stripe phase and the single ion Kondo effect fight for control of a quantum critical po int. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
