Abstract
We evaluate the kinetic energy and the momentum distribution of a Bose-cond ensed cloud of hydrogen gas inside a Ioffe-Pritchard trap. using a semiclas sical two-fluid approach. The relationship between temperature and mean kin etic energy of the gas depends sensitively on the shape of the confining po tential. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
