Casimir effect in a turbulent plasma

The analogy between the Casimir force acting on two parallel plates in vacu um and a similar force, which is of classical nature, acting on two paralle l plates immersed in a turbulent plasma is explored. Like in the vacuum cas e, the force is attractive in a plasma, but its magnitude depends now on th e energy level of the turbulent fluctuations as well as on the type of turb ulence. The Casimir interaction between two nearby dust grains is also exam ined. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
