Between 1993 and 1998 205 different potato cultivars and 1220 accessions/ge
notypes of wild and cultivated potato species from the IPK Genebank Gatersl
eben were evaluated. Parameters interesting for starch isolation and especi
ally for the use of starch were determined. Altogether, there was a higher
variability in wild potato species than in cultivated potatoes for all char
acteristics investigated: dry matter content, starch content, protein conte
nt, amylose content and mean particle diameter of starch granules.
