Parental psychopathology and adolescent psychopathology. The place and thestakes of work with families in a psychotherapeutic live-in structure

The authors present their work with families undertaken at the ''Home for 1 3-17year-olds'', a psychotherapeutic live-in structure for adolescents (out side of the Vallee Foundation). In the first part, and on a theoretical lev el, they address possible interactions between the psychiatric pathology of the parents and that of the children. Then, they analyse thirty files of y ouths admitted to this structure since it was opened in 1992 and expose the framework of therapeutic sessions proposed to the families. Finally, they, resent a clinical observation which reveals the usefulness of work with th e family in the treatment of adolescents presenting narcissistic pathologie s.
