The standard thermodynamic functions of formation of BaY2O4 from simple oxi
des were determined in the temperature range 1087-1265 K by the electromoti
ve force method with a solid fluorine-ion electrolyte. The available data o
n the thermodynamic properties of this compound were critically analyzed. N
o deviations from stoichiometry exceeding the error of measurements, either
in the ratio between the cations or in the content of oxygen, were detecte
d for BaY2O4 under the conditions of our experiments.
