Kinetic parameters for the sorption of ions during multicomponent ion exchange

The kinetics of sorption of ions in three-component ion exchange is discuss ed. An expression for the ion fluxes of the components and apparent diffusi on coefficients of the sorbed ions with regard for the mutual action of the mobilities of the sorbed and desorbed ions was obtained. For a nonselectiv e ion exchange, the magnitude and direction of the flux depend on the ratio between the apparent diffusion coefficients. Knowledge of these quantities and the relations between them makes it possible to predict the shape of t he kinetic curves.
