Abstract
A new calcium-BINOL catalyst has been developed for asymmetric Michael addi tion reactions of enones and enals. This inexpensive monometallic catalyst functions not only as a Lewis acid but also acts as a Bronsted base. (C) 20 01 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
