Abstract
We found a glycoside in sera of schizophrenic patients. This glycoside incr eased climbing of mouse forced swimming and the climbing was decreased by d opamine DI receptor antagonist SCH-23390 with a dose dependent manner. This glycoside had much reactivity of GalNAc alpha1-3GalNAc, but not that of po lymannoses nor that of Gal beta1-3GlcNAc alpha1-serine or threonine. This s trongly suggests that the glycoside is an isolated O-glycoside, but not N-g lycoside nor O-glycoside having core 1 or 2. The present findings suggest t hat schizophrenic patients have the special glycoside affecting the D1 rece ptor activity in their serum.
