Abstract
In patch-clamp recordings from small-medium diameter dorsal root ganglion n eurons in culture, (+/-)-epibatidine (1 muM) was. able to inhibit the capsa icin response (IC50=0.32 muM) in neurons Where there was no detectable dire ct nicotinic response. Thus, (+/-)-epibatidine may inhibit the vanilloid re ceptor in. a manner that is not dependent upon nicotinic current activation , representing another mechanism by which such ligands could modulate vanil loid receptor signaling.
