Abstract
The structure of a good oxygen ion conductor of nominal composition NaBi3V2 O10 was refined using both single-crystal X-ray and powder neutron diffract ion data. The actual composition was found to be Na0.96Bi3.04V2O10.04 for t his centric triclinic structure. The oxygen conductivity had previously bee n attributed to vacancies at one of the oxygen sites. However, we find all oxygen sites to be filled. Instead, it appears that the conductivity result s from the 0.04 excess oxygen existing as interstitials.
