Abstract
The presence or absence of fetal pulmonary maturity as assessed by amniotic fluid analysis and the role of fetal maturity tests in the management of p remature rupture of the membranes are addressed. The hazards of the high fa lsely immature test are carefully explored. A management scheme based on th e results of amniotic fluid analysis is also described.
