This paper studies the principal self-reflexive texts of the Chilean writer s from the generation of 1842, chosen and ordered by Jose Promis. It analyz es the concepts referred to the character of the literature (homogenous, pl ural or ambivalent) and proposes the existence of three different ways , na tionalist; universalist or internationalist, and intercultural or hybrid.
