Hy. Shin et al., Phase behavior of water plus hydrocarbon binary systems by using multi-fluid nonrandom lattice hydrogen bonding theory, FLU PH EQUI, 189(1-2), 2001, pp. 49-61
A simple lattice hydrogen bonding theory for water + hydrocarbon systems is
formulated. The theory is derived under the assumption that the intermolec
ular forces are divided into physical and chemical parts. Veytsman's statis
tics for the hydrogen bonding (HB) contribution is combined with the multi-
fluid nonrandom lattice-fluid (MF-NLF) model previously developed by the pr
esent authors. The present MF-NLF-HB theory contains two molecular paramete
rs representing molecular size and energy, and one additional interaction p
arameter for binary systems. The model is applied to quantitatively describ
e the thermodynamic properties of complex binary systems containing water a
nd hydrocarbon. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
